Before You Start The Quiz...
To get the ultimate, most accurate answer to what your personal face shape is, there are a few steps you will need to take before moving onto the quiz. If you can't do these steps or don't have time to, it's OK! You can still move forward and take the quiz. Just try and be as specific as possible when answering the questions.
The goal of doing the following steps is to calculate and determine your face shape ratio. Your face shape ratio is a number that Fresh Face Beauty Owner Candace Miller developed to help you find your most accurate face shape answer! Read on for instruction...
STEP 1
Pull your hair back into a ponytail. It does not need to be stylish. Pull all of your hair away from your face, exposing your natural hairline. If you have bangs or layered pieces in the front that won't stay in the ponytail, pin them back so you can see your entire face and natural hairline.
STEP 2
On your cell phone, take a photo of your face straight on. Do not tilt your head. Do not smile with your teeth or smirk. This will distort your face shape. We need to see your face at rest from straight on. For the best results, send this photo to your computer to see it in a larger format.
STEP 3
Looking at your photo, determine which of the following is the widest part of your face: jawline, cheekbones, forehead, or hairline (there might be multiple areas that are around the same length) The important thing is to determine the widest area of your face.
STEP 4
As you can see in the example photo, the ultimate widest part of her face are the cheekbones.
STEP 5
Using a ruler, measure your image on your computer screen from one side of the widest part of the face to the other side. On my computer screen, the example photo to the left's cheekbone width is 3.75 inches. (It doesn't matter whether you are measuring on your computer screen or cell phone, as long as you get a number for the widest part
STEP 6
Next, determine the longest length of your face. Typically it's from the center of your hairline to the center of your chin.
STEP 7
Following the same rules as step 4, measure your face length with a ruler. On my computer the measurement I got for the sample photo to the left face length is 5.5 inches.
STEP 8
Next, you are going to divide your face length number by your face width number. For our example photo to the left, that calculation would look like this: 5.5 (length) divided by 3.75 (width) = 1.46 (face shape ratio). Remember this number as it will help you to pinpoint your exact face shape moving forward with the quiz!
